AdBauWaSt

AdBauWaSt is developing a transferable planning approach for climate-resilient and water-sensitive urban districts. Using the Trappenberg district in Hof as an example, water management, ecological, and urban planning requirements are integrated even before the actual development planning process begins.

Project overview

Challenge

Climate change, heavy rainfall, periods of drought and increasing land sealing are placing new demands on the development of future urban districts.

Project goal

Development of a preliminary “Phase 0” of urban planning, which incorporates water management and climatic requirements into the planning at an early stage.

Practical relevance

The developed approaches are being examined and tested for their practical applicability and transferability in the planned Trappenberg residential area in Hof.

Our role in the research project

M&S Umweltprojekt is responsible for the work package “Site and Inventory Survey” in the AdBauWaSt research project.
This will provide us with essential technical foundations for the development of climate- and water-sensitive planning for the study area.

The focus is on recording and evaluating the existing site conditions. This includes considering topographical, floristic, meteorological, geological, hydrogeological and hydrological features, as well as the adjacent infrastructure and relevant interactions with the surrounding environment.

The data and assessments obtained will be incorporated into further work packages and will form a basis for the development and evaluation of suitable solutions for sustainable rainwater management and climate-adapted neighborhood development.
